How is Banchory Academy Organised?

Banchory Academy is a six-year (12-18) comprehensive school. The school roll is currently around 850 pupils.
The school day starts at 8.40 am and ends at 3 pm (Tues, Thurs, Fri) and ends at 3.50pm (Mon, Wed)
The timetable consists of 30 periods per week of 50/55 minutes, and is organised as follows:-

Warning Bell (pupils proceed to Registration) 8.35 am

Assembly/registration

8:40 am – 8:50 am

Period 1

8:50 am – 9:40 am

Period 2

9:40 am – 10:30 am

Interval

10:30 am – 10:50 am

Period 3

10:50 am – 11:40 am

Period 4

11:40 am – 12:30 pm

Lunch

12:30 pm – 1.20 pm

Warning Bell (pupils proceed to period 5 class) 1.15 pm

Period 5

1:20 pm – 2:10 pm

Period 6

Period 7 (Mon, Wed)

2:10 pm – 3 pm

3 pm – 3.50pm 

Each child is allocated to a House and to a register group. This allocation will be based on a number of factors, including siblings already at the school and the advice of the primary school. Each Guidance teacher has responsibility for a House and for overseeing your child’s personal, pastoral, social and academic progress. There are currently 4 Houses. Each House is linked to a Guidance teacher.

Guidance teachers should be contacted to discuss any concerns and are pleased to discuss progress with parents. The Depute Rectors are also linked to Houses.
